First 2014 Legal Training for Lawyers: Child & Youth Justice within the Malaysian Legal System

Unfortunately, Voice of the Children had to reschedule the October legal training in Ipoh and is holding the first 2014 legal training for lawyers in Penang from 13-14 December!

This interactive training session will be facilitated by Dr. Farah Nini Dusuki of the University Malaya, Faculty of Law and will focus on criminal law and the child justice system in Malaysia. Participants will gain a better understanding of children’s rights within the context of criminal law and how to handle cases in the best interest of the child.

The training will include the following modules:

Module One Introduction to the Child and Youth Justice System
Module Two   The International Instruments Relevant to Child and Youth Justice Administration and their Applicability in Malaysia
Module Three  Introduction to Diversion and Restorative Justice
Module Four    Arrest and Investigation
Module Five Pre-Trial Disposal and Court Proceedings
Module Six    Sentencing

Details of the training session are as follows:

Date:        13 (Saturday) and 14 (Sunday) December 2014

Time:       13 Dec. – 09:00am to 06:45pm (Registration from 8:30am)

                     14 Dec. – 09:00am to 06:00pm

Venue:     Eastin Hotel, Penang

Fee:           RM60.00 (includes meals and training materials)

Space is limited and is on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to junior litigation lawyers, lawyers in private practice and lawyers working in a human rights capacity.
